On Precession and then some.

The Earth has essentially three celestial movements: Revolution, Rotation and Precession. Precession is considered the slowest hand on the celestial clock.
When the ancients developed a calendar with twelve months it was based on the apparent movement of the Sun’s position in the sky at sunrise and sunset, relative to the stars. Imagine the constellations of the Zodiac ringing the skies horizon. The Sun’s movement over the year was plotted against the constellations or Zodiac, so each month of the year relates to a different sign. The time it took for the Sun to pass through all the Zodiac positions, which are at roughly 30-degree intervals, was fixed. Now this, of course, wasn't because the Sun was moving, but rather because the Earth is revolving around the Sun, which takes 12 months, accounting for the length of our year. We also know, as did the ancients, the rotation of the Earth on its axis accounts for the length of our day.
But, there is a third Earth movement that was plotted by the ancients, and that was Precession or Precession of the Equinox. This is where, due to a wobble in our Planets rotation, the Earth's axis on which it spins in space, draws a circular path through space instead of remaining at a fixed point. This wobble causes the timing and position of the Sun, during the two yearly equinoxes Vernal and Autumnal, to change ever so slightly from year to year as the Sun’s position changes in relation to the long period precession cycle. The rate for the complete cycle is about 25,800 years, with two extremes of the cycle reached every 13,000 years or so.
The standard explanation for the wobble is the gravitational force exerted on Earth by the Sun and Moon. But this model is currently being challenged because it has been demonstrated through calculations, that the rate of precession is not constant, but rather increases and decreases depending on where we are in the long cycle.
According to presenter Walter Cruttenden, founder of the Binary Research Institute, a clue that the current Newtonian model is incorrect lays in the fact that Precession cannot be measured against any object within our own solar system. Measured against the Sun, Planets or Moons, the wobble in the Earth rotation would not be noticeable. Only when measure against distant objects such as nearby and distant stars or other galactic features, does the rotational wobble become apparent.
Cruttenden presented evidence, both new and ancient, supporting the current working theory that an outside influence is contributing to the slowing down and speeding up of the rate of Precession. And, that the only thing that can make the model behave correctly, matching the change in the rate of Precession, would be a companion star or object to the Sun. Astronomers are discovering that the majority of stars in our galaxy and probably throughout the universe, are members of binary star systems. And, it may well turn out that our star the Sun, is as well.
So, what does the Sun being a part of a binary system mean? Well, as it turns out, the implications are far-reaching. If we share a rotational period with a companion star, as many stars do, the change in the rate of precession would be relative to the distance remaining to reach the closest point (Periapsis) or the farthest point (Apoapsis) of the binary orbits. And further, due to the forces of angular momentum, the closer we move towards an object the faster we travel towards it and the further we move away, the more we slow.
Lets leave it there for a moment and turn our attention to new evidence that was presented by Physicist John Dering on research conducted at UCLA by Professor Valerie Hunt. Professor Hunt created a chamber for her experiments that blocks out ALL electromagnetic energy. Subjects within the chamber were reported to experience a mental breakdown. Their minds were unable to function properly while shielded from all EM radiation. As the shielding was reduced, their normal brain function returned. And, quite interestingly, at the EM energy was intensified a profound feeling of well-being and inner bliss was reported. Similar experiments have shown that increased EM energy has a positive effect on plant tissue growth as well.
Now, let’s go back to the binary solar model. If in fact we are in a binary system, it would mean that the closer we approached the companion star, the more EM radiation we would receive from it and the further away, the less. If EM radiation effects us as the UCLA experiments seem to suggest, this would have profound implications for the development of the human mind and intellect over long period of time and could also, perhaps, account for the rise and fall of certain ancient civilizations. We’ll touch more on that in a moment. Dering believes there is a bridge between hardcore physics and documented paranormal phenomena, a bridge that may be explained by the EM field we receive from a binary partner, which, he believes, may alter the state of Human consciousness.
Until recently, what was believed to separate Humans from other lower forms of animals was our ability to walk upright, which freed our hands to create. And, what we created was tools: something else that supposedly separated us from common animals. However, this is an outdated paradigm, no longer considered valid, as many animals are now known to use tools well and walk on two legs i.e. the crow. It’s the Human ability to express thought, experience, feelings and visions through symbolic imagery that separates Humans from other animals, not that we walk upright or use tools. This fact has led to another astonishing field of research that was presented at CPAK.
Humans identical to ourselves have roamed our planet for a few hundred thousand years, sometimes sharing their habitats with lower, earlier forms of Humans. While they may have looked like us, they certainly didn’t act much like us. For upwards of 150,000 years Humans, like us, didn’t do anything very interesting. We made simple tools and that’s about it. But, something very definite occurred about 40,000 years ago that changed that long precedent, and people began suddenly to express themselves through creating imagery in the form of exquisite paintings on cave walls.
This has led us to a body of evidence presented by those researching the basis for ancient myths and symbolism associated with altered states of consciousness. Fascinating correlations were drawn between the earliest images depicted by Humans on the walls of caves beginning about 40,000 years ago, the images reported seen by Shamans and healers during vision quests initiated through intoxicants and images and visions experienced by subjects involved in academic drug research at universities and research centers. That all three groups described and depicted similar visions is an unexpected and unexplained enigma whose clues await decoding.
Graham Hancock in his new book Supernatural examines this phenomenon in depth. Hancock proposes that we are hard wired in our DNA to produce these images through our body’s natural ability to produce the chemical DMT, the so called the Spirit Molecule. He also feel it may be possible that our proximity to a binary solar companion, at times in our past, present and future, can retune the receive sensitivity of our brains, allowing us to receive and perceive wavelengths from parallel dimensions or the spiritual realm, while in an altered state, if you will.
The implications, for either theory are rather staggering to contemplate. Hancock postulates if these images are hard wired into our DNA, they must be a message encoded into our genetic makeup by some outside source, such as another race of intelligent beings possessing genetic engineering skills. Hancock notes that using current scientific techniques it would be possible to encode Human knowledge into the DNA of living organisms to be stored and saved for later decoding. Under this scenario, Hancock further speculates, if organisms such as encoded bacteria were to develop and evolve into higher life forms, they could have certain images and impressions imbedded in their consciousness. His second theory, connected to the effects of a binary solar model, would indicate that throughout time, a cycle is imposed on the development of the human psyche, which alternately increases and decreases Human consciousness. And, that these heightening and diminishing of our mental state may have had real effect on the rise and fall of great cultures and civilizations.
All ancient cultures through time have possessed certain myths, legends and folklore, which speak of the ages of man. Whether the ancient Kingdoms of Egypt, the Indian concept of Yuga’s, Plato’s Great Year, or Central American Mayan Long Count calendar, they all have in common, an Iron, Bronze, Silver and Golden Age for their people, coinciding with the passage of time and the movements of celestial objects. The Golden age is always marked by a high level of enlightenment, peace and prosperity for it’s people. The Golden Age would relate to the closest point between stars in a binary solar model. The Indian Yugas define our current time as a dark age where shallow materialism rules. And according to the Indian Yugas, we digress as we approach the extreme lower end of the consciousness cycle. According to the Mayan Long Count, which consists of five ages, each age is equivalent in length to 1/5th of the Precession cycle, or approximately 5200 years. The final age in the Mayan cycle, according the their calendar, ends on Dec 21st 2012. It was shown and demonstrated by several researchers that the ages of man, ubiquitous with ancient world cultures, are directly related and divisible by the intervals of time related to Precession.
Boston University Professor Dr. Robert Schoch, geologist and geophysicist, presented evidence from his work searching for ancient clues that would indicate a much higher level of technological advancement at much earlier time frame than previously believed possible. Schoch is known for his theory, based on geology, re-dating the Egyptian Sphinx a few thousand years earlier than generally accepted dates. Schoch’s book, Voyages of the Pyramid Builders, is a chronicle of Pyramid building cultures worldwide, and shows rather convincingly that pyramid building was a universal pursuit among all sophisticated ancient civilization. He also demonstrates through historical documentation, that the Pyramid building skills of all these cultures inexplicably and dramatically declined, over the course of time, based on events perhaps tied to Precession.
Best selling author and undersea researcher Graham Hancock has identified and dived on submerged archeological sites from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean seas, the Indian Ocean, North China Sea, and the Pacific, which were documented in his last book Underworld. What he presented at CPAK was nothing less than astounding. Following up on reported rumors, myths and legends, Hancock has discovered entire undersea cities and ruins covering vast areas of land that was last above water no less than 10,000 years ago. These sites will not remain ignored by mainstream archeologists for long, by the simple fact that they have been proven to exist and demand further investigation. Hancock goes on to show how many of the ancient and medieval maps use by explorers in historic times must have been based on earlier cartography that preserved the coastlines of the World as they looked during the end of the last ice age, when sea levels were perhaps 100 meters lower than today.
If Hancock is correct, the cultures and civilizations that created the undersea sites were from a distant prehistoric past, which vanished when the last ice age ended and periodically, sea levels rose rapidly. He believe the historical records of these catastrophic events were recorded and preserved in the universal flood myths that permeate ancient cultures worldwide. He also believes it’s possible, that along with mapmaking, in general, science and culture devolved over time from a very distant age of high civilization on a global scale, that existed and for which most evidence is now either long lost or long submerged.
Martin Gray, anthropologist and photographer, gave a slide presentation showing many sacred sites from around the world, while interpreting the various images and symbols that may indicate their deeper unspoken meaning. One of the most interesting aspects of Mr. Gray’s work is that nearly every ancient sacred site he’s documented, has been built on an even more ancient site that is now lost. Nearly every ancient church, temple, stone circle, pyramid, or shrine, throughout the ancient world, was built on a location that was long already considered sacred. The connection to Precession, all these locations have in common, is that most were oriented to the sky and stars in such a way as to calculate and determine the Earth’s motions.
How do we know the ancients studied and calculated Precession? Because, recent studies of many ancient sacred sites, have confirmed their astronomic function was to closely track and plot the timing of the solstice and equinox. And, the accuracy and precision of their function, apparently and astonishingly accounts for the cycle of Precession.
How the ancients discovered and measured precession is a great mystery of Humankind.
But it seems reasonable to imagine the knowledge was past down through time from a period when a higher civilization existed that initially discovered, calculated and preserved in many of their sacred sites, the knowledge of the celestial motions of our planet.
And, as the debate over Intelligent Design begins to rage, it’s important to remember, the intelligence behind Intelligent Design need only be intelligent, and not necessarily God or godlike.
