Four players to miss against Spurs as Carlo Ancelotti deals Everton a heavy blow

Carlo Ancelotti has posted an injury update ahead of Everton’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and three other players on the verge of missing.

The Toffees are currently trying to get through an injury crisis, with many players missing in recent weeks.

Allan, Andre Gomes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jordan Pickford, Yerry Mina, Joshua King, Fabian Delph and Bernard all missed games in the past fortnight.

The situation is so grim that Alex Iwobi was the only senior player to appear on the bench for the clash with Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday, with the rest of the squad being made up of young players.

Now, for the clash with Tottenham tomorrow, Ancelotti has provided both good news and bad news.

Ancelotti has confirmed that Allan, Gomes, King and Pickford are all available for selection, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the game.

The Englishman is due to come back from injury next week, with Mina, Delph and Bernard all set to come back with him.

SL View – Has Everton’s season stalled due to injuries?

While Everton’s performance has been below par in recent weeks, you can’t help but feel some sympathy for Ancelotti.

In addition to the aforementioned injury issues, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jean-Philippe Gbamin came out with long term issues.

James Rodriguez has also been suffering from a calf injury since December, but has recently returned to his peak form.

These issues have at times left Everton with an exhausted squad, with Ancelotti having to adjust his lineups accordingly.

While showing promise this season using a 4-3-3 formation, Ancelotti has often been forced to play with three center-backs to tackle their injury issues in midfield.

Ben Godfrey was even forced to play left-back for much of the campaign with Lucas Digne injured.

While it’s easy to blame injuries for poor performance, one can only imagine where Everton would be in the Premier League table without these issues.
