Chelsea plan to fight with Manchester United for the signing of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
The France international’s contract with Los Blancos is set to expire next June, and Zinedine Zidane’s side are said to be open to selling the center in the impending market to raise transfer funds.
Manchester United are believed to be leading the race for the 27-year-old, who has scored twice in 36 club-level appearances during the 2020-2021 campaign.
Nonetheless, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk, the Red Devils are likely to face exceptional competition from Chelsea in this summer’s transfer window.
Falk claims Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of the World Cup winner and will explore the possibility of bringing him to Stamford Bridge towards the end of the season.
Raphael Varane has made 355 appearances for Real Madrid since arriving from Lens in 2011.
