New features of WhatsApp
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp rolled out a new update for Android beta users a few days ago with version number 126.96.36.199. Now the company has also submitted a new update through its beta program TestFlight (for iOS) with version number 188.8.131.52.
These updates have the following new WhatsApp features:
WhatsApp is rolling out a new badge of mention feature for Android and iOS users. This new feature will bring the ability to view a badge when someone mentions you in a message in a group chat.
Previously, the badge could only be seen when you were in the chat. Additionally, WhatsApp has been working on redesigning this Mention badge. You can see the new redesigned icon in the screenshot below:
WhatsApp is rolling out this feature for many beta Android and iOS users. Also, since this is a test feature as of now, it may take some time to appear for all users.
Missing messages for group members
WhatsApp introduced disappearing messages earlier this year for all users. The feature automatically deletes messages in a discussion after 7 days if the user enables this option.
Endangered messages were also available for group chats, but only admins could enable this feature from now on and members couldn’t turn it on or off. But with this new update, WhatsApp will also enable disappearance messages for group members.
Also, if you are a group admin and want to allow your group members to use this feature, you can do so by going to “Group Info” -> Group Settings -> “Edit Info on” the group ”and selecting“ Only Administrators ”.
The feature is already available for iOS users with the stable update 2.21.71. It has also been rolled out for the beta version of WhatsApp for Android version 184.108.40.206.

These are a few new features that WhatsApp is about to receive on Android and iOS alike. Stay tuned for more latest updates related to WhatsApp!
