Gini Wijnaldum is set to leave Anfield this summer, with the club unwilling to respond to the Dutchman’s salary demands, as the Echo reports.
The No.5 is a much sought-after character for Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, who he is expected to change to at the end of the season, once his current terms at Anfield expire.
“Unless there is a last minute change of mind on either side of the deadlock, the Dutchman will leave Anfield with a free transfer this summer ”. David Lynch wrote.
“The Echo understands that Liverpool have no intention of improving on a contract offer which has effectively expired in the months since it received a lukewarm reception from representatives of Wijnaldum.
“The player, meanwhile, does not appear to have changed his mind about whether the terms offered accurately reflect his value.”

The former Newcastle star has divided opinions in the fanbase – some wonder what exactly he brings on a side where his value is not evident to the naked eye, others buy into the importance that Jurgen Klopp attributes to him.
At 30, of course, it’s hard to determine if a bumper contract is the most ideal solution to the current problem.
The quality is there, for those who want to see it, but with Liverpool having a few midfielders on the verge of declining, a new face could hardly hurt matters.
There is no doubt that Klopp would prefer to avoid losing Wijnaldum, but it is a possibility the German would have faced sooner or later.
Thankfully, the club’s transfer judgment has served them extremely well so far.
