MILAN (Reuters) – Luxury automaker Ferrari (NYSE 🙂 on Wednesday unveiled the first details of its new supercar, the first of three new models it has promised for the coming months.
A plan to aggressively roll out new models, which was not delayed last year by the COVID-19 pandemic, has been a key part of the company’s recent strategy to support growth.
Powered by an 830-horsepower engine, the new car will be a limited edition based on Ferrari’s 812 Superfast 12-cylinder model, he said in a statement.
Ferrari’s limited edition cars, which in the past were produced in a few hundred copies each, are even more exclusive models, with significant technological and aerodynamic improvements.
They are reserved for selected and most loyal customers of the house, those who already own one or more Ferraris.
The ‘Cavallino Rampante’ or ‘Prancing Horse’ will unveil its very first SUV, called Purosangue (Thoroughbred) next year, while Chairman John Elkann said last week that the company will continue its electrification strategy , with a first fully electric Ferrari to be presented in 2025.
Ferrari will provide more details on the new model, including its name, price, expected production numbers and times for first deliveries, at a virtual event on May 5.
