Manchester City are the latest Premier League club to join the race for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to reports.
Vlahovic has become one of Serie A’s most in-demand forwards. The 21-year-old has scored 16 Serie A goals this season, including 12 since the start of the calendar year. His purple patch put him on the radar of a number of major European clubs.
Recent reports indicate that London’s rivals Tottenham and Arsenal were in contact with Vlahovic’s agent. He can succeed Harry Kane for the first or replace Alexandre Lacazette for the second.
But they are not alone in their best interests. It appeared later that Liverpool and Manchester United could also look on.
Fiorentina are desperate to keep Vlahovic and therefore try to extend his contract. But in the meantime, with only two years of this agreement, they risk losing it.
And now another suitor has joined the queue. According to Sport mail, Man City could launch a raid for the player.
City have already confirmed that Sergio Aguero will leave at the end of his contract in June. It will be a difficult act to follow and it could cost a lot of money to find the right replacement.
Erling Haaland has been named as a prime target, but the leader Borussia Dortmund is worth a nine-figure sum. Therefore, they now see Vlahovic as a cheaper alternative.
Fiorentina reportedly want around € 50million before considering selling him. Their position can be weakened if they are relegated – they are currently five points above the drop zone in Serie A.
If they remain standing, they will still have to convince the Serb that he is in the right place. When the likes of City and Real Madrid show interest, he could easily have his head turned.
Vlahovic’s potential is clear, but he’s already delivering in the present. With a step towards a bigger club, he could flourish more.
Therefore, Fiorentina will be groomed for a summer loaded with growing interest in their star man.
Aguero knows the next move
Meanwhile, the man Vlahovic could replace at the Etihad stadium has reportedly accepted his next move.
Aguero has reportedly told his close friends and family that he will join Spanish giants Barcelona next season.
It is according to the Catalan media The Porteria, who adds that he will join Ronald Koeman’s team on a two-year contract.
This contract would take Aguero past his 35th birthday and therefore could be the last of his brilliant career.
But it looks like he could end it by playing alongside his longtime friend and international teammate Lionel Messi. It would of course depend on Messi’s choice to stay at Barca as his future is still undecided.
