Changchun Yatai’s attacking line has been bolstered by the re-signing of popular Chinese forward Tan Long.
The 32-year-old was the focus of interest for other clubs in the Chinese Super League, with a transfer to the port of Shanghai in the works before a deal collapsed.
The Dalian, Liaoning native is now back in Changchun and has signed a new deal to stay in Chen Yang’s squad, where he will play alongside Serginho and the recent signing of Erik Lima, with Junior. Negrao still a potential signing.
Tan Long had arguably the best time of his career arriving in northeast China ahead of the 2017 Chinese Super League season, making 105 total appearances for the club, scoring 45 goals and adding 15 more assists.
While Changchun Yatai suffered a relegation to China League One in 2018, Tan Long has proven himself to be better than the second tier after finishing the 2019 season as a China League One MVP and the 2020 campaign as a league top scorer with 11 in just 15 matches.
Chen Yang’s side are hoping to have a good season when they return to the front row, avoiding a relegation battle, and some of the signings the club have reportedly made so far this offseason look positive.
Erik is confirmed Negrao would be an important addition up front and players like Jores Okore, Wang Peng, Jiang Zhe and Mao Kaiyu are all expected to join the club ahead of the 2021 season, seeing the club strengthen a squad that already was. good enough to go undefeated in the China League One promotion round last season.
With the return of such an influential player like Tan Long, the club will have high hopes for the coming season and maintaining their position at the top of Chinese football will be a more realistic goal.
