Leicester are facing a four-way transfer battle after investigating the availability of PSV star Noni Madueke, according to a report.
The Foxes have had another strong season under Brendan Rodgers, with several recent signings having played their part. Center-back Wesley Fofana made a fantastic impression, as did full-back Timothy Castagne. As such, Leicester are looking to do better than last season in qualifying for the Champions League.
However, research to improve Rodgers‘team continues. The Northern Irishman has a penchant for developing raw young talent such as Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool and Foxes star James Justin.
According to Daily mail, however, Rodgers now intends to land the PSV winger Madueke.
The 19-year-old has become one of the best young midfielders in Europe with his form this season.
He has scored nine goals and assisted eight more in 29 games for the Eredivisie side, including 13 direct contributions in the Dutch Premier League.
As a result, he won his first Under-21 selection for England on the last international break.
The newspaper says that Leicester submitted an investigation for the teenager. However, they will have to face an uphill battle to sign him.
This is because AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Lille have joined the race.
Rodgers, however, is a longtime admirer of Madueke, having tried to sign him to Celtic.
At the time, the player was in TottenhamYoungsters rank up, but he courageously chose to move to the Netherlands at the age of 16 in search of a clearer path to first-team football.
Madueke’s exciting rise to PSV
Madueke fulfilled his goal of finding consistent football; after joining PSV in the summer of 2018, he was promoted to the first team last season.
He made four appearances in Eredivisie before the coronavirus lockdown, which hijacked his chances of progress.
