Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester City – Champions League, team news and planned roster

The two sides in search of their first glimpse of Champions League glory will face off at Parc des Princes as Paris Saint-Germain meet Manchester City on Wednesday. You can watch this and other Champions League matches live online.

PSG and City have only been paired once in the Champions League before, with the Premier League giants coming out on top in their 2015/16 quarter-final fixture.

With just three games to go to win their first-ever trophy in Europe’s most prestigious club competition, both clubs are desperate to take a decisive step towards securing a first Champions League title as neither club is is on the Champions League winners list.

Paris Saint-Germain preview

After a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in last season’s Champions League final, PSG could become the first Ligue 1 team to make multiple finals if they get past City.

The Parisians quickly took their revenge on the eternal Bundesliga champions, ousting them from the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season on the away goals rule (3-2 A, 0-1 H).

Interestingly, a 1-0 loss to Munich in the second leg of their quarter-final marked PSG’s only fifth loss in their last 60 European home games (S38, D17).

However, three of those losses have been inflicted on visitors to the Premier League, with the French giants having achieved just one victory in their last five UEFA home games against such opposition.

Notably, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have failed to find the net twice in their last 45 Champions League outings, with identical 1-0 defeats to Munich, the only exceptions.

Manchester City preview

Manchester City have reached knockouts, having finished top of Group C without losing a single time (W5, D1) and returning a +12 goal difference for their problems (GF: 13, GA: 1).

The runaway Premier League leaders defeated two Bundesliga sides in the round of 16, hammering Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-0 on aggregate before winning both matches of their quarter-final fixture against Borussia Dortmund by the same score of 2-1.

If there is a team to match PSG’s scoring propensity in the Champions League, then you shouldn’t look past Cityzens, who have scored 72 goals in the last three European campaigns, managing an average of 2, 48 per game.

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s men lost their two Champions League knockout matches against the Ligue 1 opposition, most recently against Olympique Lyonnais in last season’s quarter-finals.

Before winning a 3-0 victory at Olympique de Marseille on Matchday 2, City had gone winless in four consecutive Champions League clashes against French clubs (D1, L3).
