Liverpool had considered offering Divock Origi to Celtic for Odsonne Edouard, but our Belgian didn’t like SPL, and Edouard didn’t want to play a role on the bench!
This is according to Anfield Central, who claim that Jurgen Klopp and France U21 forward Edouard spoke on the phone before realizing the move was not planned as the 23-year-old needed more time to guaranteed play.
Edouard has 16 SPL goals this season, which, considering the quality of the competition, is hardly the sort of number that catches our eye.
We need a rotating striker, someone who can step off the bench and make an impact, because Origi’s days are definitely numbered.
Taki Minamino could return, but he didn’t exactly prove he was clinical before he left on loan in January.
Really we want Liverpool to sign a new front line, a starting striker – someone with a better pedigree than Edward – but time will tell if we have the finances for this kind of business.
