Manchester United could get a first-hand glimpse of a cheaper alternative to Raphael Varane when the Red Devils face Roma, while a Nigerian striker dreams of a move to Arsenal, according to Thursday transfer rumors.
MAN UTD EYE CHEAPER VARANE ALTERNATIVE
Manchester United could get a first-hand glimpse of a cheaper alternative option to Raphael Varane when they face Roma on Thursday night.
The Red Devils face the Italian side at Old Trafford in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
A player who could line up against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men is a central defender on loan Marash Kumbulla.
The 21-year-old joined Hellas Verona in September last year, signing a two-year loan deal that includes an obligation for Roma to buy the player in the summer of 2022.
The four-cap Albanian international, valued at £ 24.3million by Transfermarkt, has made 23 appearances and scored twice for the Serie A side this season.
Kumbulla missed both sets of the quarter-final victory over Ajax with a torn meniscus. However, he was an unused replacement this weekend against Cagliari and could return to the starting XI in the absence of suspended Gianluca Mancini against the Red Devils.
If it appears, a report in the Daily Express claims it would give United a close look at a player they might be looking for to try and land.
The talented Albanian was on United’s radar last summer and is seen as a cheaper alternative to central-back Varane’s main target.
the Real Madrid star wants to move on this summer but it would cost United around £ 60million to strike a deal.
Kumbulla would cost much less and would initially be seen as a fallback option for Victor Lindeloff and Eric Bailly, who signed a new deal with United this week.
