Mexico City’s railway bridge collapses, killing at least 20 people

At least 20 people have died and dozens more have been injured after a railway bridge collapsed atop a busy road in Mexico City, according to reports.

Local images captured after the incident show cars hanging from the overpass, which gave way near Olivos station on metro line 12 late Monday. Rescuers are looking for stranded passengers on the scene.

Reuters said 49 people had been hospitalized.

“A support beam has given way,” Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said as quoted by The Associated Press.
