New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has made a goal for Man Utd and Chelsea a top priority, although all hope is not lost for the English sides.
The Italian manager begins his second stint at the helm of Los Blancos. However, unlike his previous term, the current real Madrid in desperate need of major surgery. One department in particular that is going to see a major overhaul is defense.
Outgoing center-backs Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane both face an uncertain future.
Ramos is an impending free agent and has started struggling with lingering injury issues. In the last campaign, the 35-year-old made a meager 15 league appearances, which led to his omission from Spain’s Euro 2020 squad.
He and Varane could both be about to leave. In the case of Varane, a Man Utd’s move from blockbuster to Premier League has been heavily touted.
If the duo move on, Ancelotti will have to make a marquee signature on the stand.
Now, Football London (citing Be10 Sports) reveal that such a splash could take the form of Jules Kounde.
The 22-year-old Sevilla center-back has quickly become one of Europe’s top properties in central defense.
Of course, both Chelsea and Male Utd have been credited with interest. Their hopes were raised last week when the player himself spoke frankly about a possible summer outing.
However, by Football London, Kounde has been on the radar of Real supremo Florentino Perez for “several weeks”. Additionally, Ancelotti considers center additions to be the main “priority” of his first act and Kounde, along with Pau Torres, is checked.
There is a bit of comfort from an English point of view, however. This comes in the form of the fees that Sevilla will likely charge for their rising star.
The figure of £ 68million is touted which, unless lowered, could prove to be an insurmountable hurdle for Los Blancos.
In this scenario, the more economical Torres could be sued, leaving the door ajar for Man Utd and Chelsea to try their luck for Kounde.
Chelsea and Man Utd failed managers’ revealed approaches
Meanwhile, Massimiliano Allegri has turned down two offers from Chelsea as well as approaches from Arsenal and Manchester United, it has been revealed.
His mentor Giovanni Galeone said The BianconerO (Going through Football Italy): “The last year he was at Juventus, Allegri said no to five big offers.
“Chelsea have tried twice in the space of 15 days and they have always rejected every proposal. Then Real Madrid contacted him more than once, while Arsenal, PSG and Manchester United also tried. All of this in the space of a year, but he always said no.
“I think if Juve hadn’t called he would be in Madrid now, although he wasn’t fully convinced with the organization there. No one is, really.
