Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is “100%” sure that Eden Hazard will stay at the club beyond next season.
The former Chelsea striker has persevered for two terrible years in the Spanish capital, with a string of injuries limiting him to just 43 appearances and five goals for the club.
The 30-year-old has been tipped to return to Chelaea and end his stifling spell at the Bernabeu, but Courtois doesn’t foresee his compatriot having to end his Los Blancos career this summer.
Speaking to Le Soir, Courtois said: “I am 100% sure that he remains. He would not like to move. Only the Madrid press have expressed themselves on the desire to leave.
Hazard wants to continue, play injury-free and win titles. At Real Madrid, there is an analysis constantly and for everyone. Gareth Bale came under scrutiny, but he won the Champions League and netted a brace in the final in Kiev.
Overall, we realize that in Madrid there is pressure and criticism from the press and the fans. But, Eden can handle this. I know him well to say it. In any case, it can make a huge difference. He actually wants to be an important player for Madrid and win titles.
Eden Hazard himself has rejected a potential return to Chelsea, while returning manager Carlo Ancelotti is sure the striker can become an important player for the club.
