Manchester United are reportedly working on handing Jesse Lingard a new contract that could see him stay at Old Trafford.
Recall that Lingard struggled to play at Old Trafford during the first half of last season and was then transferred to West Ham on loan deal in January.
However, Lingard’s move to West Hammer saw him excel at the club.
He has scored nine times and recorded five assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers.
Lingard’s performance for David Moyes’ side also helped them secure a place in the UEFA Europa League for next season.
Following his performance at West Ham, the Red Devils reportedly intend to give him a new contract and bring him back to Old Trafford.
On the other hand, West Ham has revealed their intention to sign Lingard on a permanent basis, as his current contract with the Red Devils is due to end in June 2022.
However, the choice will be left to the player to decide. Lingard is believed to only agree to a new deal with Man Utd if he is assured of having chances of playing regularly for the Red Devils squad.
Considering the number of attackers available at Old Trafford, it would be best for Lingard to strike a permanent deal with West Ham.
