West Ham United are showing interest in Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst, who has already attracted Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.
After delaying their search for a replacement for Sebastien Haller in January, it will be an important summer for West Ham. Recruiting a striker remains a priority as they seek to strengthen a squad that will have European commitments next season. As in the previous transfer window, several attackers are on their radar.
The latest name to be added to their agenda is Weghorst, who will represent the Netherlands at Euro 2020.
Weghorst scored 20 goals in 34 Bundesliga appearances last season, also providing eight assists. He added five more goals between the Europa League and DFB Pokal. Today the 28-year-old is in demand across Europe.
Wolfsburg qualified for the Champions League after finishing fourth, but they still might not be able to keep their star striker.
According to Athleticism, the German club will allow Weghorst to leave for an amount of 30 million euros. They expect there to be a lot of interest in him.
West Ham is claimed to be among its potential suitors, after Newcastle and Tottenham also tried to entice him over the past year.
It’s unclear if these rivals remain excited, with Spurs again being suggested if Harry Kane leaves. But the Hammers definitely seem to be on the hunt.
The report describes Weghorst as a ‘classic center-forward’, which is certainly the kind of player West Ham needs. Michail Antonio impressed in the striker role, but they could do with another option there.

West Ham looking at Daka
But Weghorst isn’t the only player West Ham might consider for the striker role. Earlier this week, there has been an update on their interest in RB Salzburg frontman Patson Daka.
The 22-year-old has scored for fun in Austria, scoring 61 goals in all competitions over the past two seasons.
West Ham has been mentioned as a candidate for his signing, as have Chelsea and Liverpool.
There was a sigh of relief over one of those rivals, however, when Fabrizio Romano denied reports that Chelsea were about to sign him.
Therefore, there might be hope for West Ham to get Daka if they decide to pursue him instead of Weghorst.
