Aspen Cove in Scofield is under immediate evacuation orders due to the Bennion Creek fire, the US Forest Service said Thursday evening.
The evacuation was caused by “extreme fire behavior and forecast winds” that are expected to push the blaze toward Aspen Cove, the Manti-La Sal National Forest tweeted.
Aspen Cove is a recreational real estate development in Carbon County. Colin Dunn, a forestry service chief information officer, said around 100 seasonal homes were affected by the evacuation order. He didn’t know how many people are affected.
Dunn said the blaze spanned more than 1,900 acres on Wednesday night, which is the most recent area information.
